چکیده

We apply a genetic algorithm from Podnar and SkorinKapov [5] to a virtual topology design of a Wide-Area WDM Optical Network with regular topologies. Based on a given physical topology a virtual topology consisting of optical lightpaths is constructed. The objective is to minimize the maximal throughput, which implies balancing link loads and accommodating on-growing traffic requirements in a timely fashion. The genetic algorithm is applied to benchmark instances of regular topologies.

Broadcast Routing in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: A Particle Swarm optimization Approach

While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...

Optimal All-to-All Broadcast in WDM Optical Networks with Breakdown or Power-Off Transceivers

Packet scheduling provides a way to reduce routing control and guarantee overall throughput. An interesting special case of the packet scheduling is all-to-all broadcast in which every transmitter/receiver pair has exactly one packet to be transferred. Several optimal scheduling algorithms have been proposed for the all-to-all broadcast problem in Wavelength Division Multiplexed (WDM) optical s...

Converter Placement Supporting Broadcast in WDM Optical Networks

ÐGiven a WDM optical network with wavelength channels on its fiber links, we consider the problem of finding the minimum set of network nodes such that, with wavelength converters at these nodes, broadcast can be supported in the network. We call this problem the Converter Placement problem. We model a given network using a graph G with colors on its edges and give a mathematical formulation fo...

A Class of Scalable Optical Interconnection Networks Through Discrete Broadcast-Select Multi-Domain WDM

Passive star-coupled optical interconnects with wavelength-divisionmultiplexing hold a strongpotential for realizing flexible large-scale multicomputer networks. Virtual point-to-point regular connectivities can be defined and modified in a network with broadcast-selectrouting via distributed wavelengthassignment to the nodes. The system size in this approach is bound by the number of separable...

A Novel Protection Guaranteed, Quality of Transmission Aware Routing and Wavelength Assignment Algorithm for All-optical Networks

Transparent All Optical Networks carry huge traffic and any link failure can cause the loss of gigabits of data; hence protection and its guarantee becomes necessary at the time of failure. Many protection schemes were presented in the literature, but none of them speaks about protection guarantee. Also, in all optical networks, due to absence of  regeneration capabilities, the physical layer i...
